Admissions Frequently Asked Questions for AP Exams

Why aren't my test scores checked off?

A checkmark will not display on your checklist when test scores are received.

What important dates should I know?
[top|previous|next]

  1. The AP Program deadline to receive test score requests was June 15th, to ensure an on-time delivery to colleges and universities (early July). You should have requested your test scores be sent to UC San Diego (school code 004836). If you didn't submit your request to the AP Program by June 15th, we cannot guarantee that your test scores will be processed by the new student fall enrollment period in late August.

If the name you used varied in multiple tests, the AP Program will not be able to match your name variations and will not be able to send us one record with all cumulative tests taken. If this is the case, then you should request all prior year test scores, including all corrected name variations, be sent to UC San Diego.

  2. UC San Diego has a July 15th deadline to receive your AP test scores, in order to process them in time for fall enrollment. Test scores received after July 15th will be processed in the order they are received from the AP Program. Test scores received after July 15th may take up to six weeks to process.

  3. If you met the June 15th AP Program request deadline and our July 15th receipt deadline, credit awarded for AP test scores will be displayed on TritonLink, in your Academic History, by August 1st.

What happens if I requested my test scores through the AP Program after June 15th or they are not received by UC San Diego by July 15th?

How were students notified about these deadlines?

Information has been available through MyApplication since students accepted offers of admission. In late May and early June, a mailing to the student's permanent address, one e-mail to the student's application e-mail address, and one e-mail to the UC San Diego e-mail account were sent.

What is the volume of documents received by Admissions and how does this affect the processing of my records?

One of our busiest times of the year occurs from June 15th through August 20th. We receive more than 12,000 transcripts, more than 4000 AP scores, thousands of other educational records, and hundreds of daily inquiries from students, parents, and counselors during this period. Our goal is provide the highest level of service to new and current students. Our first priority is to complete the processing of records received by the deadlines. Our next priority is to process records, in the order in whey they are received, following the deadlines.

I have called and verified with College Board that my scores have been sent and they do not appear on Tritonlink. Who can help me?
[top|previous]

If AP test scores tests were requested in the month of May you will see your credit displayed on TritonLink in your Academic History by August 15th.

If AP test scores are requested after the month of May, we may not receive them by the July 15th deadline. We cannot guarantee that these scores will be posted prior to your enrollment appointment time. Tests will be processed in the order that they are received. Please allow a minimum of three weeks after you have confirmation from College Board that your scores have been sent; this will allow processing time for credit to be posted on TritonLink on your Academic History.

If your tests are not showing on your Academic History and it has been longer than three weeks since your scores were sent, please email us at admissionstatus@ucsd.edu with the following information:

  • Email Subject: AP Test Score CAssistance
  • Date(s) you requested your scores from College Board
  • Names used each time you took the exam (even if it only varies by the inclusion or exclusion of a middle initial)
  • The year in which you took the exams
  • What method of delivery did you choose? One week or the rush delivery?
