10A. The Writing Course A (4)

A workshop course in reading and writing required of all Warren College students. The course emphasizes argumentation and critical writing based on sources. (Letter grade only.) Prerequisites: satisfaction of the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement and must be a Warren College student. Junior/senior standing students need departmental approval prior to registering.

10B. The Writing Course B (4)

A workshop course in reading and writing required of all Warren College students who have completed WCWP 10A. The course continues the emphasis on argumentation and critical writing based on sources. (Letter grade only.) Prerequisites: satisfaction of WCWP 10A and must be a Warren College student. Junior/senior standing students need departmental approval prior to registering.

11A. Warren Scholars Seminar A (4)

Warren Scholars Seminar A allows students to develop and refine their expressive and analytical skills by exploring a topic from the perspective of a wide range of disciplines. The seminar emphasizes critical thinking, reading, and writing. The topic will vary each year. (Letter grade only.) Prerequisites: limited to first-year Warren College Honors Program students.

11B. Warren Scholars Seminar B (4)

Warren Scholars Seminar B allows students to develop and refine their expressive and analytical skills by exploring a topic from the perspective of a wide range of disciplines. The seminar emphasizes analytical thinking and argumentative writing. The topic will vary each year. (Letter grade only.) Prerequisites: WARR 11A, Limited to first-year Warren College Honors Program students.

189. Academic Mentoring and the Writing Process (2)

Students will gain a fundamental understanding of all stages of the writing process and will develop the necessary skills to serve as productive mentors for their peers. Prerequisites: students must have completed WCWP 10A and 10B (or WARR 11A and 11B) and PHIL/POLI 27, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be a Warren College student. Submission of a writing portfolio and permission of instructor are required to enroll.

195. Apprentice Teaching (1)

Undergraduate instructional assistance. Responsible for small-group and individual instruction, preparation of assigned reading materials, and providing support in the paper-writing process. (P/NP grade only.) Prerequisites: successful completion of WARR 11A and 11B; approved Undergraduate Instructional Apprentice form; department approval.

500. Apprentice Teaching in WCWP (2 or 4)

Consideration of pedagogical methods appropriate to undergraduate teaching in Warren College Writing courses, under the supervision of the program director and the Warren College provost. (S/U grade only.) Prerequisites: graduate standing.
